One of our “Little Tricks” we use in the SKINNER SIGHT Shop is what we call a “SAFE” sided file.
This is a standard 6-inch triangular file (60 deg) that has the teeth on one side ground off. Using this file allows you to file only on the “SLOPE” of the sight and not change the depth of the cut.
You can do this to your own file or buy one from us. We offer them here for our customer’s convenience. Files can be hard to grind…
(Note: We grind off one side enough the teeth will not cut. They may still be visible and felt with a fingernail, but they will work fine. Files are not always perfectly straight but you are only using a small portion of the file at a time. Trust me, if it looks less than straight, it will still work just fine)
