When hunting or carrying on outings, a good sling is almost essential. The goal is a comfortable way to carry the rifle hands free with minimal bulk and weight.

Anything extra added to the sling will put yourself at a disadvantage when it comes to quick access or stable shooting.

Imagine if you will, a half box of cartridges attached to the sling, swinging underneath the rifle while taking an offhand shot.  That “pendulum” motion will add movement to the rifle and disturb accurate sight alignment.

For this reason, in a lifetime spent in the outdoors, a simple sling design has become my “go to” in the field.
